Ep. 84 Cosmic Counsel with Vanessa Hardy

1-800-COSMIC

I love giving advice. It’s not even so much that I think I have some kind of great wisdom or anything but I love that when you give advice, or someone seeks it, a conversation develops. You learn something new. You learn what someone has been dealing with, or ways they have tried to cope which I for better or worse find fascinating. I’m talking solicited advice side note, the flow working ideally as it should. Someone taking a chance saying hey what do you think about this and someone hearing and honoring the vulnerability and saying let's hash it out. What would I do? Not freely offering something you have not thought about how it fits into the context of someone else’s life. Nope. Nope. Not that.

What can I say love to hear and learn about a resource or offer one. Horny 4 resources 4-ever. Thankfully

joined me to minimize tangents and add her thoughtful knowledge into the mix. We got so many interesting and thoughtful questions I really appreciate everyone who submitted.

Back to basking in the sun as the last days of summer wind down.

What Vanessa’s Into Right Now:

Don Miguel Ruiz’s 4 Agreements

I think the 4 Agreements are crucial Mercury Retrograde rules. I actually haven’t read the book, but I’ve been trying to implement them for a few years. I don’t trust people easily, and focusing more on living in integrity with the agreements seems to push toxicity away rather than putting me in the position of having to deal with something I didn’t want to get tangled up in. I guess that’s boundaries!

The agreements are :

  1. Be Impeccable With Your Word

  2. Don’t Take Anything Personally

  3. Don’t Make Assumptions

  4. Always Do Your Best

This is a good quote to think about for Mercury Rx too ! From the Four Agreements Wikipedia - "We must begin to understand what the word is, and what the word does. If you understand the first agreement, be impeccable with your word, you begin to see all the changes that can happen in your life.” - Don Miguel Ruiz

The Philosophical Research Society Youtube

The Philosophical Research Society is a place in LA that I need to visit. In the meantime, their Youtube channel is unmatched. So many great chats about every aspect of mysticism and spirituality, plus lots about film and the arts. It’s the whole vibe.

David Odyssey Podcast and Substack

David’s podcast has ended for a bit, but the episodes are evergreen deep dives into astrology, pop culture and myth. I loved it. He has a Substack now, writes great stuff for Nylon and you can book sessions with him. I think it’s a nice break from all of the transit reporting that has been dominating the internet astrology conversation. Zooming out and being playful helps you tap into your own interpretative skills, and myth and storytelling help you do that.

My friend Liz Tran wrote an amazing book, The Karma of Success. But, what I am really into is the memory I will have of seeing her do a reading and Q+A at the iconic Strand Bookstore. I cannot overstate what a magical evening it was. As soon as it dropped, I listened to the audiobook on the beach and had so many moments of clarity from it.  It's canon for folks trying to integrate inspiration and action. I’m all sizzle, no steak- HELP! ( You will understand after reading the book)
