Do we need to say a whole lot about burnout? Not to make a hugely generalized sweeping statement but it seems like 99% of us are burnt out around something or another.
Pretty uncomfortable isn’t it? We know we need to quit doing something, make a change of some kind but life doesn’t always care. Cool need, not the time. How do we stay connected to what is slowly consuming us when we have to do this business of human’ing everyday?
We can’t always quit a job, or just decide we’re not a parent anymore or the countless things that burn us out.
How are you feeling? What are you burn out on? Don’t worry we fill you in on what we’re full up on, and more in Ep. 34.

Modern dilemma or always been around?
If you’re unsure your body might know
How to know if you’re headed to burnout
“I’ve been thinking about the decades I’ve spent focused on healing, on growth, on trying to work myself into some version I think I need to be in order to really embrace it all, in order to accept it all, in order to live.” Maybe if we lived more we’d be burnt out less….
One of our ways to combat burnout is to court inspiration and give our eyes some gifts:
Friend of the pod and interior designer Rachel’s new substack is a feast for the eyes
Hilma forever
If you haven’t gone and peeped the nasa images go do it and marvel at what a miracle we exist at all it is
The Aeolian islands in general but this image. The way all that bluuuueeeeee and spaaaaaaaace feels. Swoon.
It’s best described as a folk remedy but Anna swears by painting your nails hot pink to brighten your spirits, hands or toes, and a lipstick will do in a pinch. This shade on repeat for months.
Not that far away from trying to live like Juliette
Mmmm I feel like collectively we have been in a burn out for a long time and 2020 was kind of it's reckoning. I feel like there was a big shift but we are slowly getting back to the path we were once on. I nodded the whole podcast -- especially the reality of your body burning out and making the choice for you.
Also thank you for the substack shout out :) appreciate it so much.
Burnout!! I think the scariest thing for me was missing it before it happened and then just having my brain mentally shut off and be so confused why I just couldn't.do.anything like I used to. Then I realized my work life sucked for 3+ years. I wish I would have known more about burnout before it happened to me.
I also love how it was acknowledged that it can be a gift - because it definitely can be if you *finally* listen to what your body and soul is trying to tell you.
Thank you for these beautiful recs (the nail polish ah) And the shoutout 🥺👉 👈 Loved these last two episodes. Enjoy vacay!

Wow!! Being in survival mode and learning hard lessons! has caused it, I have to start listening to my intuition (and actually doing what it says/hearing the warnings), balance mother/domestic responsibilities (I think there's a lot more to dig in here), and I think that the gift is realizing that obstacles, failure, frustration is par for the course and normal and shouldn't derail me like I always let it do.
